The hunt for ham - The FruitPig Company

On Monday my search (for the perfect ham) took me to Wisbech which is a market town in Norfolk and home to The FruitPig Company. I knew when I first met Matt Cockin of The FruitPig Company he was going to change the world of meat.

So far he hasn’t let me down and I’ve had several opportunities to try his products including Norwich Battle of the Bangers and at The Dabbling Duck at Massingham. I figured that if his bacon was anything to go by his ham would be worthy of centre spot on my table.



Goodies Farm Shop Christmas Fayre

I was delighted to be invited to visit Goodies Farm Shop Christmas Fayre. Goodies, based in Pulham, Norfolk, are one of the top farm shops in the country so as you can imagine I was very excited about visiting and trying their sausages for myself.

As regular readers will know I am a big fan of FruitPig Company sausages. I first tried them back in June and I knew then that Matt, originator of The FruitPig Company was going to make his mark on the World of sausages.

Matt and his lovely wife Anna invited us out to the Dabbling Duck at Great Massingham where he supplies most of the sausages.



Visit to Gareth’s Butchers

The destination for my latest Sausage King Adventure was Gareth’s Butchers in Welywn. I first heard about Gareth’s Butchers via Twitter and then, based on recommendations, listed them on Sausagefans.com. From what people were saying about them I knew I had to visit them as soon as I got the chance.

I was counting down to Wednesday the 28th October and when the day finally came I took a leisurely ride down to Hertfordshire.



Champion of Champions 2009

I was delighted to be invited by the Meat Trades Journal to join the panel of judges at this year’s Champion of Champions competition. Sausage makers who have won previous BPEX accredited competitions during the year are then invited to compete for the title of Champion of Champions.
